I wrote this song in the autumn of 2012. It's about my children and the love that we share, and how it makes us wild, free, tame and whole.
lyrics
BIRD IN THE HAND
A bird in the hand or on the wing
Each is its own precious thing
And yet I extend my heart
A place for you to perch and maybe call your own
Love, our love, remains a precious thing
Held in my hands or on the wing
So tell me who am I to think that I could tame
Such a wild beating heart such a flurry of wings
And yet I know your name
And you call me your own
Love, our love, remains a precious thing
Held in my hands or on the wing.
My soul is a tree who’s branches hold my heart
My hearts a downy nest made by you my sweet bird
You went and laid some eggs, precious little flecked things
Each one a new beginning for someone else's tree.
A bird in the hand or on the wing
Each is it’s own precious thing
And yet I extend my heart
A place for you to perch maybe call your own.
